I have taught young children for fifteen years in Reception classes and I have always enjoyed using music and songs to deliver different areas of the curriculum. Having conducted research into communication development in children I am very aware of the importance of the home learning environment and the interaction between parent and child.
Teaching reading through synthetic phonics
I wanted to create a product that would support synthetic phonics learning in the classroom, but that could also be used at home to engage parents in the learning process. So the idea for a song book and CD was born. These songs can be sung at school, at nursery, at pre-school, in the car, at home, walking along the street, with friends and with family. Children can follow the words in the book and begin to recognise initial sounds in words.
